UC Regents Vote to Endorse Proposition 3
On July 17, the UC Regents endorsed Proposition 3, the Children's Hospital Bond Act of 2008. This initiative will be on the statewide ballot in November. Read Full Article
Governor Schwarzenegger Signs 2008-09 State Budget
On September 23, Governor Schwarzenegger signed the 2008-09 state budget. The $143 billion plan was enacted after an 85-day standoff, the longest in state history. Major features of the plan include an increase in the budget reserve fund, a grant of authority for the Governor to make unilateral, mid-year budget reductions should conditions warrant, and an economic stimulus package.
