On October 29, 2008 Former State Assemblymember and candidate for the 21st Senate District participated in UCLA's “Candidate to Campus” Program. The purpose of the program is to invite newly elected officials to campus and introduce them to key faculty and staff who have an expertise in their policy areas of interest. By facilitating these meetings, UCLA's State Government Relations Department develops an early understanding of the candidate's future legislative priorities in Sacramento.
Assemblymember Liu's visit consisted of a tour of the new Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, a lunch with faculty, staff, and alumni, and meeting with Chancellor Block and Vice Chancellor Roberto Peccei. Already familiar with UC issues from her time in the Assembly, Ms. Liu took the opportunity of her visit to campus to see first-hand the quality of care being delivered at UCLA's new medical center. She was also able to hear from senior campus leaders about the challanges facing UCLA and about our important new initiatives..
