UCLA Day with Local government 2008
On Thursday, October 23, 2008, UCLA Community & Local Government Relations hosted its 5th UCLA Day with Local Government, bringing volunteers, alumni, and staff to Los Angeles City Hall and the Kenneth Hahn Hall of Administration. With a message of civic engagement and the need to continue the push for education, advocates met with local legislators and governmental departments.
That evening in City Council Chambers, nearly two hundred Bruin alumni and friends joined UCLA Executive Vice Chancellor and Provost Scott Waugh in honoring Los Angeles City Councilmember Wendy Greuel '83 as the UCLA Local Legislator of the Year. Waugh and Assistant Vice Chancellor Keith Parker also shared with the audience the highlights of the day's activities as well as referencing UCLA's civic responsibility, demonstrated through the vast contributions of human resources which the university brings to the residents of Los Angeles County through its many and diverse community programs and projects.
